Night Vision Security Cameras

Night Vision Cameras: Protection 24 Hours a Day

Security systems have come a long way in the past few years.  For a while, it seemed like just having a simple alarm was good enough to give homeowners piece of mind.  However, as the technology has progressed, more and more features have been added to security systems.  Most people like to have security cameras and video surveillance systems for security, even for their homes.  The technology for these cameras has progressed as well.  Most theft attempts seem to happen at nighttime, when it is dark and harder to see.  Night vision cameras have been created to fight against these threats.

Night vision cameras essentially work the same way regular cameras work.  They both can be either wired or wireless and both connect to some kind of receiver, which can then be hooked up to a monitor, computer and other things.  However, the biggest difference between the cameras is the ability to see things at night and in dark places.

Most night vision cameras have infrared LED.  The cameras use thermal imaging techniques to capture image being omitted from various objects, and humans emit some form of infrared light.  The infrared LED picks up on these lights and generates a thermogram or a temperature pattern.  The thermogram is then translated into electrical impulses capable of being displayed.  Cameras that don’t use infrared light LED usually use certain light enhancement techniques that convert light energy into electrical energy capable of being displayed.

Of course not all cameras are the same and the range of night vision varies depending on what type of camera you buy.  Most cameras you would typically use for home security would have a range from 5 to 15 meters, but professional night vision cameras can have a range as high as 30 meters or even higher.  All cameras night vision power is measured in a lux rating, which is a minimum illumination or light that the camera can pick up on.  The lower the lux rating, the better the camera will do in low light situations.

Night vision cameras are the best type of camera for all situations.  They can record color images during the day, and can record images at night as well.  If you are looking for a type of camera that can protect and record at all times of the day, night vision cameras are the ones to get.  Just make sure you get the type of camera with the right lux rating and range that will work best for you.
